Music

At Beechboro Primary School all children from Pre Primary to Year 6 attend music lessons taught by our specialist music teacher. A variety of activities including singing, dancing, listening and playing several instruments, along with performing are explored. Children are introduced to the elements of music including beat, rhythm and pitch and use instruments to refine their skills. Percussion instruments are played throughout Year 1 and 2, the Ukulele is introduced and is the focus in Year 3-4 followed by other instruments such as the keyboard and Guitar being introduced to Year 5-6 students.

At each school assembly the school performs together with a community song. This is an uplifting experience and a positive way which brings our school together.

At the conclusion of the school year, all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in our End of Year Concert. All students perform a song and dance with their year level for families and friends. This is a one of our highlights of the year.

In Year 5, students who excel in music are selected to partake in a specialised instrumental music program run by the Instrumental School of Music. This involves an additional weekly lesson learning the clarinet or the classical guitar.

Our school choir is made up of students from Year 4 to 6. The School Choir performs at our annual ANZAC Day service, Year 6 graduation assembly and at the End of Year Concert. The choir also performs annually at the Massed Choir Festival.
