Art

The Arts provides opportunities for students to learn how to create, design, represent, communicate and share their imagined and conceptual ideas, emotions, observations and experiences, as they discover and interpret the world. The Arts entertain, inform, challenge, and encourage responses, and enrich our knowledge of self, communities, world cultures and histories. The Arts contribute to the development of confident and creative individuals, nurturing and challenging active and informed citizens.

Students attend Visual Art Specialist lessons for an hour per week from Year 2/3 through to Year 6. Curriculum focuses on studies of artists’ work, identification of art strategies and experimentation with various media to produce informed individual and group projects. Students regularly reflect on their work and make goals for improvement.

Lunchtime activities aimed at broadening students’ knowledge of famous artists are provided throughout each term. Illustrators and artists are invited to share their knowledge with students through combined English/Art incursions and excursions.
