MacqLit
MacqLit (the Macquarie Literacy Program for small group instruction) – is an explicit and systematic reading intervention program for small groups of older low-progress readers.
Specialist English classes run for an hour per class each week. Specialist classes support classroom literacy programs through the provision of engaging texts for students to read/view, with follow-up discussion aimed at improving vocabulary and contextual understandings. Students develop deep understandings of the narrative elements of character, setting and plot, focusing on the literature strand of the Australian Curriculum: English to facilitate improved skills in Speaking & Listening, Reading/Viewing and Writing.
